A man drank three bottles of blood!!

I was shocked by news from Hong Kong that a man drank three bottles of blood in a hospital. It happened 2 days ago and the man was arrested. The newspaper saying a 29-years-old drunken man took a three bottles of blood and drank from a blood bank during he was sent to hospital. Those bloods were waiting to be tested. The investigation is still going. http://hk.news.yahoo.com/070914/60/2fpb6.html

I felt shocked by the news and it made me sock. I dare not to imagine that human being would drink blood because of getting drunk. As what doctor said in the news, it's possible but no probable that a drunken man couldn't differentiate blood and wine in a delirious condition. I'm wondering if he thought they are "red wine" as they got the same color. But it's ridiculous as their taste is so different.

Although I'm not sure if this man was delirious or not, I can make sure that the hospital didn't keep the blood safely and the security is absolutely not enough. How can a drunken man easily take the blood from the window of blood bank? It can cause more serious crime and danger!! For example, people can easily steal the blood or change the blood or even add something into the blood.

Fortunately, the blood was finally checked and it does not contain any sickness or virus. And the patient was not in urgency. I hope the hospital should pay more attention on their security and this thing will not happen again.

Critique

The blog I'm going to introduce is called "Baghdad Burning".

This is a political blog created by a girl from Iraq and her name is anonymous. Most content in this blog is about war, politics and sometimes occupation. Therefore, I think its target audience is those people whose are interested in politics or intellectuals. It has been blogging for 4 years since 2003 and it is one of the ten-most-popular blog in the world. For this blog, the blogger usually updates the blog item once a month and the recent journal was posted in 6th September.

I know this blog just because of one of Minehan's assignments. As we need to analysis this blog and a academic article, it gives me the first time to read this blog. I basically had thinking that this blog must be boring as it is a politic journalistic blog. However, after my first time to read the post, I found what she wrote is very interesting and those posts always make me think a lot.

I like this blog because this blog contains a lot of her voice and feelings. There is no something general or clichés that we all know even without reading her posts. The lastly post can be used for instance. In the lastly post, it was about a driver's (who she knows) brother have been killed by shooting when she was planning to leave Iraq with her family. She said, "The trip was long and uneventful, other than two checkpoints being run by masked men. They asked to see identification, took a cursory glance at the passports and asked where we were going". This was her experience and it tells the viewers know how she felt. Another post contains a lot of her voice is the post released in 20th Feb, 2007 about the rape of Sabrine, she wrote, "I hate the media and I hate the Iraqi government for turning this atrocity into another Sunni-Shia debacle- like it matters whether Sabrine is Sunni or Shia or Arab or Kurd (the Al Janabi tribe is composed of both Sunnis and Shia)". She strongly expressed her opinion on this official scandal. I like to know how people judge some particular issues or news.

Another reason why I like this blog a lot is because this blog provides many source about the Iraq War that I don't know or I couldn't watch from television or newspapers. As her position is very clear - anti-Bush and anti-war, she offers some sources in terms of links to other website. For example, there is a link called "Iraq Body Count", can we see it from television? No for sure. The figure in some ways reflects the fact that the invasion to Iraq by the American troops cost many Iraq people's life. I like this website because it provides a lot of useful information for me especially about politics. In addition, it certainly influences me how to judge the Iraq War. Besides, she is also likely to quote some sentence from online newspapers and those quotes can be linked to the original sources such as Yahoo News and the New York times.

For this blog, the layout is simple. The left side is the area for posts and the right hand side is a linking area. In addition, users are not allowed to comment. Although there is a link provided to send mail to the blogger, other users couldn't read the comments from others on each post. In other words, users are unable to share their opinion and feelings; the blogger is the only person to make expression in this blog.

Overall, I like this blog a lot and it became one of my favorite blog. I will keep visiting this blog and hope the blogger keep posting nice articles.

The most stressful days finished!!

hey!! Everybody!! I'm going to announce that the most stressful days have been finished!! We have successfully went through the hardest time!! Although we still got one more class, our long essays as well as the horrible in-class assignment were all due and what we need to do is only the third podcast. But it's no so much stress and is actually interesting job, right?? So, cheer up!! Our happy holiday is coming very soon!! Yeah~

After finishing our in-class assignment, my feeling is like a prisoner has just been released. These days, most classmates were suffering and most of us had worked overnight for the final essays. Like the night before, I got only two hours for sleeping and what the worst is..... my face was suffering breaking out of pimples. Each pimple represented one assignment =.="

Anyway, as one famous saying, "when the rain is over, the sky clears up". I think it is time for me to get into my holiday plan and I know some of our classmates are going home and some are planing to have trip around Australia. For me, I'm going to ....... stay at Sydney =.= I'm sure I will have good time here. No matter where you will go to, I hope all of us will enjoy our holiday and take a good rest.

Finally, I got some pictures and I would like to share with you because I think they are so funny and I have never seen before....

Who said the track is only for train......
I think it is a creative, smart and useful invention as it can save a lot of time for workers doing track work when travlling between two points.

Good online shopping online fwebsite for share

Yesterday one of my friends asked me to recommend some websites for online shopping and I couldn't come up with any ides right that moment. But I have kept this in my mind and never gave up thinking of this. Until this morning, I suddenly think of one website which I used to often visit. However, after coming Australia, I didn't visit the website as often as before because my credit care will be charged service fee if it isn't used in Hong Kong.

I really like this website as it contains informations about the latest arrival products and the models always give a good match of clothing. In some ways I think this website likes magazines as it gives audience the sense of how to dress properly. More importantly, I can purchase some Western brands that I couldn't find in Hong Kong or some particular items I couldn't find in Hong Kong's shop.

Let's check this out: http://www.shopbop.com/

Perhaps some of you might think the clothes or brands sold in this website are too mature when you're the first time to visit there. But if you go to "shop by category" and choose what staff you want, then you can find a lot of displayed items in different brands. I always find some items are very suitable for me.

I think I will become a "frequent visitor" again as it's still a good website to absorb fashion news although I probably won't buy anything. And, I hope you like this website ^^

respect and appreciation V.S. shout and accusation

Today, when I was travelling train from Central to my home, I heard the conversation from an old couple who are around 65 years old.

Man: How long does it takes from here to home? 20 mins?
Woman: No, around 15 mins.
Man (rudely and impatiently): don't argue with me!!

The woman didn't reply the man after he shouted at her however, the man keep shouting "always argue with me, there's no difference between 3 and 5 mins, do you need to count in seconds?!".

Before the man asked the question to the woman, I supposed that they didn't know each other as they sat in different roles of seat and the man sat behind of the woman. For me, it's so strange that an couple (I guess) sat separately and they both occupied double seats. I usually sit with my friend or parents when we travel transport together. But something happened later on that made me understand why they didn't sit together.

When the train was approaching to the station that they got off (I got off at the same station), the man firstly tried to went up the stair to the door. As the train was still travelling, he walked so hard and hold the hand rail tightly. He couldn't walk properly and his hand was holding a walking stick. I was surprised that the woman didn't help him or hold him because it seems that he would be so easy to fall down. I don't know what happened between them but I know they must have a very bad relationship.

It makes me think of my host mother and host father. Although they have got married for nearly 30 years, their relationship have been kept very good. My host mother always praise her husband every time when he cooks some good food for us.They know how to respect and appreciate each other.

What makes so different between these two pairs of couple??

What I think is that more respect, appreciation and less shout and accusation are very important for keeping a good relationship. It doesn't only apply on love relationship, but also friendship or even relationship with parents.

near the end of this semester

Time past so quick when getting busy and concentrate on work.
Today was already the end of Week 10 which means it's near the end of this semester.
So holiday is coming after this busy time.....

I like holiday with no doubt. However, I'm a bit scared of holiday especially spending holiday here. I still remember late last holiday, after Gold Coast trip, I spent nearly 2 weeks at home...... it's a nightmare for me. I did noting at home but eating and sleep and I felt I was wasting my time.

The holiday is coming again. I will definitely find something interesting to do and not to stay at home every day. Now I'm thinking of finding a part-time job or taking language course or learning a musical instrument. ha ha~~ I prefer making money rather then spending money.

My dear friends, Do you make a plan for your holiday? What are you going to do?

P.S.: I know some of my friends in HK they nearly finish their summer holiday and they have to go back work again. ha ha... Cheer up!!!

An important listener

Who do you usually talk to when you have trouble??Friends? Lover?? Parents??
But have you ever had the experience that you don't know who you should talk to when you are in a dilemma?? I was in this similar situation few days ago.

Usually, if I have any difficulty, I will definitely talk to one of my cousins or my dear friends and they always give me support. But now, I'm in Sydney and I couldn't see them or contact them very often. Beside them, parents are other good "listeners" for me. However, I'm sure they won't totally understand me this time and if I tell them, I will worry them. Maybe you will ask why I didn't tell my friends here, I just can say......I tried...but.....

I know when I tell anyone about this worry, they would think I just considerate too much. I also know it's impossible to totally understand some one's feeling because somebody else do not stay in the same situation. So, I just kept it in secret but until yesterday.

I think I am lucky, at least there is one who understands or tries to understand my feeling. To be honest, what I need is not an efficient solution or any comfortable saying. What I really need is just a "listener" who is willing to spend me few minutes and not to stop me when I raise my worry.

Now I feel much better after talking to you. I'm really grateful to you for your help. I think I will make the greatest decision soon.

Believe or not??

A superstitious saying from HK is that if people clockwise walk around the peach blossom tree three times , you then have good luck in love. I'm not sure if people in China have this custom, however, do you believe it??

This morning, I found the peach blossom tree in my home now flowers, then I told my homestay family this superstitious saying and they asked their daughter and me to walk around the tree as we both have no boyfriend now. Actually, I tried to walk around a peach blossom tree few years ago and after that, I met my first boyfriend. I don't know if it's a coincidence or it really works. The fact is that I don't think that relationship is "good luck" as it lasted only for 4 months ==".... haha~ I'm now thinking of that if I walked the wrong direction at the time......

Besides, another saying is that placing a peach blossom tree at home can improve relations with others. It's the reason why HK artists they like to buy one during New Year because they hope it can make others in terms of audience like them or become popular.

Although I don't really believe that I can get a boyfriend after walking around the tree, I still want a "try".But I'm just wondering if I walk more than 3 times, like 6 times or 9 times, will I get 2 or 3 "seekers"? Anyway, I decided to do it tomorrow :P !! Let's see if I can meet my Mr. Right soon !!

Something happen with no expectation.

Today I have bascially planed to have pancake with my friend. However, he already left Sydney last night. I have never expected that he would leave me soon and I thought we can still go somewhere to have fun during this weekend. But something happen by accident, he received a call from HK two days ago and he has to come back HK before 10 August as he will have a interview for fireman. So he has left here in hurry. I still remember when we were taking train yesterday, he told me that he had to leave Sydney at night. I was shocked after hearing that! I know he has also never thought of leaving Sydney suddendly.

I know he will come back here soon (hopefully after interview)so that I don't feel extremely upset ^^(I think he will be sad after reading this). But I just feel something happened suddenly and it's too random for me.

Anyway, I hope he will be alright for the interview and GOOD LUCK!

Snowy Mountain becomes Blue Mountain

My dear friends, tell you a sad thing.....
I made a plan to go skiing with friends this week. However, the plan had to be cancelled because of the full booking of motel. What upset us most was that we received a call from the travel agency just "one" day before our departure.... so that it's impossible for us to join another trip....
We were finally forced to cancel this trip and deciced to go Blue Mountain.
I comforted myselfe that Blue Mountain is similar to Snowy Mountain because both are mountain, both are colder than Sydney, both are close to natural environment......
I know it's very ridiculous to persuade myself that Blue Mountain is similar to Snowy Mountain ==" haha~ However, I feel much better after saying that.....
Although I couldn't go skiing finally, I enjoyed the Blue Mountain trip.

And, I MUST go there next year!!!!!

My lovely mother~

I received a phone call from my mummy last night. I was surprised that she gave me a phone call because we usually chat through webcam. My mummy told my host mother that her computer was broken so that she couldn't see me through Msn so she gave me a call. After answering her call, my host mother sincerely said that "your mother must miss you a lot because she hasn't seen you for few days. This is mother's love". I feel very happy to hear that and it almost made me cry.

Remember at the begining of I came here to study, Once, I didn't go online to chat with my mother for a night as the internet was suddendly out of connection. She then called me in the next day morning at AUS time 7:00am that meant HK time 5:00am only!! I wondered if she went to sleep!! I asked her why she didn't call me at that night and she said it was because she thought I slept already! She was so sweet at the time T.T

After that, I go online every day no matter I am free or not. Maybe I just leave her a message but that's perfectly enough for her.

My lovely mummy, although your consideration for me makes me feel warm and sweet, I still want to tell you:

you can call me anytime!! you don't need to worry that your call will wake me up!!

Cherish all friends I have

Do you have an experience that who you are keeping in contact with are not the closest friends in the past but the closest friends (used to be) have never kept in contacted?
I have this experience.

One of my dear friends will arrived Sydney tomorrow and I feel exciting of that because it is my first time to meet him here. I know him for more than 4 years and we were in the same secondary school. Even though we had a good friendship in school, there was still a gap between us as we were not in the same class and he was doing the higher level class. We did not have a closed friendship at that time. However, we have still kept in very good contact with each other since he was graduated from our school. We keep a very good friendship now and even stronger than before. Every time we have gathering, we chat for very long time and never feel bored. Now he comes to Sydney for visiting his sister and he still thinks of me and brings me a lot of things.

This makes me think that why I can keep a very good friendship with those who were not the closest people in the past (he is one of the cases)? But Why I could not keep the friendship with some who used to be my closest friends in the class??

I remember that I had a closed friend when I was doing high school in Hong Kong. She is girl and she seems like having a lot of common things with me so that we became very good friends. We used to go toilet together, join the same make-up class or even share a lunch box. We did every thing together and teachers even called us "twins". I felt very happy to be with her and I think she had the same feeling with me. However, I do not know what causes an estrangement between us and we have not contacted with each other since we were graduated.

I do not think it is the "fate" (Chinese concept) of our relationship. It was just because I was "lazy" to keep this friendship. Building up a friendship is no easy, it needs time and motivation. I feel sorry for this friendship because I think I miss something. If I have tried to give her a call or just sent her an email, I will not miss a friend, a very good friend.

What else I learn from this is that I will cherish all friends I now have!!

Sept or Jan??

I'm confronting when I should go back HK~
there are two options for me,
one is the break after this semster~ (in Sept)
another one is the break after this course... (in Jan)
I basically had a plan that I will go back to HK after this course~
it means in Jan 2oo8, then I can have Chinese New Year in HK~
I make this paln because I didn't have time with my family during last Chinese New Year.
and you know what... a lot of trandtional good Chinese food I can eat during Chinese New Year.
but unfortunately, I just heard a news that I "have to" come back Sydney for preparing sth for university~
it means I can have only 3 weeks holiday in HK and I have to leave HK before Chinese New Year if I really go back HK in Jan....
if I go back HK after this semster, I will have 1-month holiday in HK.
but I don't think it's the best time to go back HK!!
WHAT SHOULD I DO?????

Wheat pack!! Highly recommend!!

I bought a wheat pack from Priceline 2 days ago because the weather here is getting coler. I'm afraid that I will be cold to death if I still don't buy any stuff for keeping warm.
This pack is for the back and body (actually you can use any part of body)and it can be used in cold or hot way!!
I'm not sure what inside the pack is,however, the way to use this pack is very convenient!! What you need to do before using it is to heat it by microwave oven for 2 minuts only!!Then it can provide warm for 2-3 hours!! If you put it in quilt, it will last for longer time!! What amazing invention!! It easily sloves my problems!!
I don't need to use water bottle anymore!!
And, more improtantly, it costs only $10.95!! it's worth to have a try!!
